DESCRIPTION: EPW - Victor Kullberg, London, "Curiosity" model free-sprung lever with winding indicator and reverse fusee, 53mm, heavy 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1880, "JM" within oval cameo for casemaker John Martin, gold cuvette engraved with initials and 1924 date, SW and set via depressing tab under case rear lid, winding with Kullberg's "knock out" mechanism allowing crown to turn freely when case rear is closed, fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, 19J, gilt mvt with long pierced balance bridge, s#1971 with matching serial number to dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 85.9 dwt (133.7 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, winding "knock out" is a bit touchy and occasionally occurs when case rear is closed but at other times does not, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone though main plate with ultra-fine scratch striations from past wiping; dial with very faint hl from near 12 to center, very small perimeter hls under bezel near 1; excellent hands, minute and seconds-hand with mild bends; case shows light wear, profuse micro-fine scratches throughout, short scratch toward upper-right of rear, some marring to band adjacent opening position of bezel, mild dent to band near 3:30, some scattered mild nicks; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
